Designed as part of broader campus improvements at University School, this playground prioritizes student safety by minimizing intersections between children and vehicular traffic. Early in the design process, we engaged directly with students to envision their dream playground, which revealed a clear desire for big, adventurous structures and led to the inclusion of giant wood towers that rise above the schoolyard. Painted tracks surrounding the playground invite running and obstacle courses, while log tangles, boulders, and a native planting weave in nature play and quieter exploration, offering something for students across different ages and interests.

The design utilized durable materials chosen in close coordination with the school facilities team, ensuring they had the capacity and knowledge to care for the space well over time.
